Last year saw a 20 percent drop in UK owners successfully selling, compared to the prior year — with deal values falling by nearly a third.
Partly because financing became harder for acquirers.
If economic conditions improve, what are the prospects for owners looking to exit in 2024 or next 24–48 months?
I’m more interested in the bigger picture and macro-environment.
In the UK, demographic trends are clear — more baby boomers are reaching “retirement” age, increasing businesses put up for sale or closed.
But as more owners wise up on achieving premium valuations, the M&A space gets more competitive.
