I know some individuals have difficulty focusing at work in January (and not only in January)…

Here Are Some Of My Favorite Ways To Stay Focused

So, here are some things I learnt the hard way…

…as well as a handful from industry gurus like Cal Newport and Brandon Webb.

🍅 The Pomodoro Method (hence the Tomato emoji). This is a time management technique in which you prioritise things and work for a defined length of time before taking a short rest and repeating the process. You may use physical timers (shaped like tomatoes) or mobile applications.

🍅 Make daily or weekly goals that are specific and attainable. This can help you keep on track and grow toward your long-term goals.

🍅 Divide your job into tiny tasks and concentrate on one at a time. Multitasking is a misconception that can really reduce productivity.

🍅 Reduce the amount of times you switch jobs, as this can be psychologically exhausting and make it difficult to focus.

🍅 Remove any distractions. Find a quiet, distinct location to concentrate on chores that need concentration.

🍅 Consider wearing headphones to shut out audible distractions.

🍅 Set limits with coworkers and communicate when you need to focus.

🍅 Rather than checking emails and social media frequently throughout the day, set aside designated times to do so.

🍅 Take breaks to replenish your batteries, which will boost your productivity and attention in the long term.

🍅 Consider when you are most productive during the day. Schedule your most critical chores around that time.
