Generation Rent Is Ageing
Sep 1, 2022
Consider Generation Rent’s struggle to finance their own place…
…and you’d probably think about twenty-somethings who can’t afford a down payment on their first house.
However, data for England from 2011 to 2021 presents a quite different picture in terms of the rise of private renters in other age groups.
> A 110% increase in privately rented households when the head of the household was aged 55–64.
> A 50% rise in privately rented families aged 45–54
> A 38% rise in these homes for those aged 65 and up.
