And the scarcity of residential space is driving up rents, which isn’t helped by rising tenant demand.

> Rents in the UK are now £60 per month higher than they were before Covid.

> By the end of 2021, the average monthly rent was £969.

Low-interest rates and fast-rising rents imply that property investors can still make money.

However, we require roughly 227,000 new homes per year to meet the demand and supply imbalance… So, in the next ten years, around 2 million units must be produced.

In reality, the UK has regularly failed to meet the demand for housing for many years.

This means that private investors still have a role, and I don’t see that changing very soon…
